Scribbles Learning Center
Philosophy |
|
Parents are a
critical part of the teaching team; we take great care
in gathering data from parents about their Childs
temperament, schedule and preferences. Therefore
Children can be on their own schedules, not restricted
by some externally imposed routine. And we can
anticipate and respond to the unique needs of each
child. We continue the two ways Communication process
with parents on a daily basis.
Our program
is designed to gently stimulate each child to reach
his/her full potential to approach developmental
milestones with enthusiasm, persistence and joy. Our job
is to make sure that each child has numerous successful
experiences every day to give him/her a positive
self-concept and to insure a lifelong love of learning.
We believe
our teachers need to know and understand how children
grow and learn. When teachers know developmental growth
patterns, they can anticipate developmental needs and
create environments and activities that encourage
emerging skills without the frustration of fear of
failure.
To accomplish
these goals, we have established a people-oriented
organization. Our business philosophy is built on
valuing each and every employee’s contribution. We hire
the best teachers we can find and train them thoroughly
before they assume the responsibility for teaching. We
continue to facilitate professional growth by careful
and constant supervision, on-going training and regular
evaluation. |

What Happens
During The Enrollment Interview |
|
No one knows more
about the children we care for at Scribbles Learning Center
than you, the parent. In order for our teachers to provide
the very best care; we make every effort to obtain important
information from you about the caring for your child.
The Enrollment
Interview is the best way to gather this data. You will need
to arrange to spend 15-20 minutes with the primary teacher.
It is important that you schedule the interview with us so
that we can be sure that the teacher is free to visit with
you.
This is an
excellent Opportunity to inform the teacher of your
expectations. Scribbles Learning Center is committed to
providing your child the kind of care that you give him/her
at home. Your input is an important part of that process. |

What About
The Gradual Enrollment? |
|
One of the best ways to facilitate your
child's adjustment to Scribbles Learning Center is to plan
for gradual enrollment. Young children have little
experience with change and often need the extra time to
adjust. Gradual enrollment gives your child that time.
Although there is no one-way to do the gradual enrollment,
most often it goes like this:
Either you or a person familiar to the
child, bring the child to the center.
Put your child's things away in the
assigned cubby.
Sit on the floor with your child or
move about the room allowing your child to play in an
interesting area.
Your child’s primary teacher will be
near during this time, but she will not hurry over to
interact with your child.
As you and your child settle in, you
can talk with the teacher as you and she move about the
room. As you do this, the teacher's voice will become
familiar to your child and the Teacher will become more
interactive.
The primary teacher will watch and
observe as you care for your child (even though she may be
caring for her assigned children at the same time). Ideally,
gradual enrollment would take place over a week or so with
the parent and child staying 1-2 hours the first day and
working up to a full day. We realize that only a few
parents will be able to arrange this much time for
transition. Try to spend at least two days. This will give
your child good experience with the new environment before
you leave him/her with us, If this is not possible, spend
20-30 minutes in the center before You leave and then plan
to stay 20-30 minutes at the end of the day.
From this experience, your child will
become comfortable with Scribbles Learning Center and will
begin to develop a relationship with the primary teacher
(the person who will be so important to him/her when you are
not there). |
